Frequently asked questions
Will EC64 lead to higher prices for EdmoLift's products?
No, there will be no price increase with the introduction of EC64.
How does EC64 differ from UC60?
Overall, there are significant differences, but one key aspect is that EC64 is modular and built on future-proof technology. This makes it easy to scale up functionality based on more advanced customer needs compared to the UC60 control system.
Do I need training to use EC64?
EdmoLift’s standard products will include the same functionality as before, and no new knowledge will be required for an operator to use EdmoLift’s products. However, EC64 enables a more efficient approach to service and maintenance through eLift Assist. EdmoLift’s service and maintenance partners will be offered the necessary training to work with eLift Assist.
Can I still purchase products equipped with UC60?
UC60 will be phased out during 2025, and from the beginning of 2026, all products manufactured by EdmoLift will be equipped with EC64. For more information, contact b2b@edmolift.se.
Can I replace my UC60 in an existing system?
In many cases, replacing UC60 is possible, but it depends on your specific setup. In the simplest scenarios, you only need to replace the control units, safety frame switches, and the control system. For more details, contact b2b@edmolift.se.
Will my current spare parts for UC60 work with EC64?
Control units and safety frame switches for UC60 are not compatible with EC64. However, a large number of other accessories for UC60 are compatible with EC64. Contact b2b@edmolift.se for more information and specific questions regarding your solution.
Will service and maintenance be affected by the switch to EC64?
Service and maintenance of UC60 will not be affected by EC64. However, EC64 offers a simpler and more efficient approach to service and maintenance, thanks to eLift Assist.
What does EC64 stand for?
EC64 is an abbreviation and stands for: Expandable Controller, 60 years of experience with up to 4 logic modules.
What is eLift Assist?
eLift Assist is EdmoLift’s digital service tool for EC64, designed to simplify maintenance work. It also enables more efficient troubleshooting, installation, and preventive maintenance. The tool is accessed through a web browser on a laptop and connects via the USB-C port on EC64.
Can I still troubleshoot without connecting to eLift Assist?
Yes, the feedback to the control unit remains the same as before. The difference is that all EC64 control units have a built-in buzzer, whereas with UC60, only our standard control units had this feature. Additionally, there is a light indicator directly on the EC64 electrical box that can be used for troubleshooting. eLift Assist provides clearer fault indications, making troubleshooting easier.
Do I need to connect with eLift Assist to replace a broken component?
No, existing components that are damaged can be replaced directly with an equivalent one. Examples include safety frame switches, limit switches, or other accessories such as a signal tower. The same applies to solutions with a single control unit. However, if the solution has two or more control units, activation via eLift Assist may be required so the system recognises which control unit has been replaced.
If you are installing a new component that was not originally included in the solution, it must be activated via eLift Assist.
There are some exceptions - contact b2b@edmolift.se for more information.
